Ever wonder what the locals do on Hilton Head Island? Check out some of the long time locals & staff favorites below:
While it is not a secret spot by any means, it is definitely not as popular as you would think! My favorite spot to catch the sunset on Hilton Head Island is in Sea Pines... The newly built pier in Harbourtown is the perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful Hilton Head Island sunsets. I could be a little bit biased as that is where I got engaged, but I've been going there since I was a child. The secret is to get down there at least an hour before sunset and enjoy what the area has to offer. Grab a drink from one of the outdoor bars & enjoy some of the local musicians often playing outside. Or....indulge in some ice cream and stroll on down the pier whilst you soak in the beauty and wait on the sunset!! You will not be disappointed in the sunset from the Harbourtown Pier in Sea Pines, that is for sure!
Another solid recommendation...The Salty Dog boat cruise. The 63' catamaran has two decks, a full bar, food available, and the BEST views. You can't go wrong with any of their cruise options -- but I recommend the sunset boat cruise. It will be a #nofilter kind of evening for you. It is an adult only cruise - so all passengers have to be at least 21 years old. The tickets aren't expensive and you will absolutely love it!
Catch your own & cook it at your private vacation rental. I mean, that is one of the perks of renting a vacation rental property - the full kitchen - put that sucker to use! There are a ton of boat captains to chose from on the Island. I would recommend going out on a fishing charter with Outside Hilton Head. They allow you to take home what you catch. They will even do all the prepping of the fish that isn't always the most glorious task... You really cannot beat experiencing Hilton Head Island by boat! Go enjoy a day out on a boat & catch your own dinner!
Looking for a healthy dining option? I have two absolute favorites on Hilton Head Island.
Recommendation #1 - Delisheeyo. A perfect on the go healthy lunch spot. They have awesome salads - try their tasty fatoosh or massaged Kale - YUM!!! Their healthy frozen yogurt is worth the stop.
Recommendation #2: Healthy Habits. The salads are HUGE and delicious! Their homemade smoothies are yummy and a great option for breakfast - along with their avocado toast. While in Healthy Habits, visit Maywood Davis coffee for their handcrafted espresso drinks. (Pro Tip: The salads are big enough to split, ask them to split them for you, and wa-lah....a meal for two!)
Both of these are great options to take on the go to the beach!
I know, I know...the title of this section said healthy...but I had to sneak in a guilty pleasure of mine - PIZZA! If you are looking for some fresh, wood-fired pizza - definitely check out Local Pie. The Fresh Neapolitan style wood-fired pizza is a go to for my family and me. They have local ingredients and unique daily specials that makes this pizza one of a kind. My favorite is the "Local Margarita."
Welp...one of my favorite spots to grab some good food & yummy cocktails, Porter & Pig. The atmosphere there is amazing - it is definitely not your typical tourist spot. You will find a ton of locals there, always fun & interesting to strike up a conversation with! It is a smaller place - but a true hidden Hilton Head Island gem. The owner, Ivy, is always bee bopping around and you are bound to have a great conversation with her or any of the passionate, fun staff she has on board. If you are looking for a good craft beer, fun cocktail, DELICIOUS FOOD with a great/not too crowded atmosphere - this is the spot for you!
